A dark, rainy travel day brought us from the Keys to The Everglades.
To those of you who follow this blog, our apologies for disappearing. Between fighting Poisonwood rash and eating everything in sight, we got behind in the Keys, and Verizon let us down in the Everglades.
All those guys you see in the ads following your Verizon wireless device and providing the excellent network connection? They're afraid to get their feet wet. We had no Verizon service in The Everglades National Park. But, in the interest of fairness, we have to mention that Jacquie's new (AT&T) iPhone worked flawlessly from our campsite at the Everglades Flamingo Campground.
Jacquie and Dave, my thoughts and prayers are with you. I feel certain that this trip was meant to be in spite of what happened yesterday. You may feel that you should have been home; should have been spending time with your mother, but this was not the intention of the Grand Master up there. Some day you will understand why it all happened this way. You should feel a great peace, Jacquie, that not only did you spend a lot of time with your mom, but you told her you loved her and she HEARD you and patted your back. These few words might only take a few seconds, but there are SO many people who lose someone and can only grieve and feel sorrow and wish that they had remembered to tell that person they loved him or her. I know your heart is breaking now. You are going through one of the greatest times of grief on the planet; there are few people who cannot relate to losing their mother. But in time you will realize that you have a lot of peace; you did a lot for your mother, you loved her, and she knows that. Blessings, dear friend.
